This fully synthetic multi-purpose fibre can be used for finest water-proof micro fibre fabric or for high temperature protection wear. It provides little crinkling and low weight. Steam (sweat) can leave this fabric, but water drops can't come in.
Polyamide is highly tearproof and resistant to abrasion. It soaks 4% water max. and is highly stretchable.
The main disadvantage is a low UV-resistance. Polyamide products can be obtained in different qualities, best known Polyamides are Nylon, Perlon and Meryl. They are utilized for tents, clothing, sleeping bags and backpacks. The melting point is 250° Celsius.
